Well this is good old traditional American comfort food, not really a wow type dish.

Now what I really love to do with meatloaf, is for breakfast, the next day. Cook a slice in a fry pan with a little butter, put it on a piece of toast and top it with a fried egg. That is my favorite way to eat meat loaf.

Good luck. I sincerely hope it works for you. TJ’s is a tough cookie to crack. I’ve tried to shoot in their stores a couple times to no avail. I, like you, have given milk away in hopes of selling the cow, but I’ve only had minimal luck. We should compare notes some day. Best to you Chef John.

i agree but it’s much more fun to the guests if you work in a restaurant to get a piece of loaf with some vegies in and you can see the texture of the whole thing instead of a bland boring sausage.

Have to say Chef John, though I’m a big fan, not overly impressed with this one. I realise there was an ulterior motive and I support you in that bid though!
We don’t really do “meatloaf” in the UK, so I thought “ooh, I’ll try it out” - it tastes like what it is, a cooked heap of mince with some sauce in it. I mean, it’s a good hearty dinner and all that, but for all the effort - just buy some good quality sausages!

Albertson’s and Kroger is obviously still in business, but not in the state of Texas! *sigh* We have Whole Foods though.

There’s no Trader Joe’s in the state of Texas. We have a large chain grocery store named HEB. They literally put other grocers like Albertson’s and Kroger out of business. The funny thing is, they aren’t THAT GREAT.
