for the carrots there’s a method you can do to cut them with more ease without as much danger of cutting your fingers.

when you peel them with the peeler, peel one side a little bit more to give the carrot a slightly flat surface, that way when you cut them length wise with the knife, there’s a much smaller possibility of the carrot rolling around and making you cut yourself :D

@maskedmurader23 Great tip. I personally don’t use a serrated knife…but it works. But I was going to suggest the same thing. And it’s even easier (since this is a lazy man’s video after all) to, while your pealing the carrots, just peal one side a little more than the other. But either way, great tip. It definitely makes cutting carrots (or anything round) easier. Great vid, as always, Jack!

can you do this with more types of veggies?

@ThorMaxx your BBQ recipe sounds real good.

Hey! :D I did this with butternut squash cubes like a few weeks ago! It was fantastic! I used Basil, all-purpose, minced garlic, salt and pepper. It was sooo good. If I may make a suggestion, try preparing butternut squash on a pan, with some butter, and season it with brown sugar and cinnamon, then cook it like this! I bet it’s great! :) I plan to try it soon.

I should try this, I’ve got a bag of baby carrots in the fridge, so I need something to do with them.
    Thanks for the recipe.

Why don´t you use fresh herbs isn´t it healthier and tastier

  17. GettingThereGreen on May 24th, 2010

My guess is that this would work with almost any veggie you wanted to do this with. Sweet Potato would be awesome done this way! Thx for the ideas!

  18. MRCOOLGAMERGUY on May 24th, 2010

hey jack, or anyone who can answer this lol is it okay to use regular salt?

  19. Broggy69 on May 24th, 2010

With the carrot dish, if you want a slightly sweeter taste, use baby carrots. Doing so will also prevent you from having to peel, cut, and slice.

Thanks for the tips you are awesome |!!! :)

@lilawunder95 fresh herbs go bad to fast. I don’t use enough to make it worth while. Unless a recipe calls for a bunch of one herb, I use the dried ones. it’s way too expensive to buy a whole pack of fresh herb just to use a pinch.

  22. jakatak69 on May 25th, 2010

@MRCOOLGAMERGUY regular salt can be too much. it’s finer salt so more sticks to the veggies. Which in turn makes it saltier. Also there is a flavor difference in table salt and rock/course salt.

Good asparagus method! That’s why I favorited this video!
