Cut Chicken

Chef Jason Hill of www.CookingSessions.com shows you how to cut chicken in this episode of “Chef Tips.” To cut whole chicken, you’ll need a good pair of kitchen shears and a chef knife. In this video, chef Jason demonstrates how to cut a whole chicken with ease. One of the most popular methods is the 8 cut chicken, which divides the hen into 8 pieces. This includes the two breast pieces, two drumsticks, two thighs and two wings. Jason also shows how to cut chicken wings, and remove the tip (which is perfect for making chicken stock). He also demonstrates the proper method on how to cut a chicken breast in half. The next time your friends ask how to cut a whole chicken into 8 pieces, show them this video. It comes in handy for any chicken recipes calling for braising, grilling, stewing and barbecue. For more related videos, check out Jason’s videos on BBQ Chicken and Kitchen Shears. Thanks for tubing in!

    @bankner Bankner you must be semi-retarded. He wasnt saying he could cut a chicken up faster than anyone else. He was showing his viewers how to cut a chicken up one way. To do this he showed every step in detail. Before you post a dumbass response like the one you did maybe you should look for the intent behind the video.

    LOL, “We already broke his legs, now lets break his arms.” Did the mafia hire you to do this episode? That chicken must have owed them some money.
    Nice tutorial.

    what you do in this video is why I will never end up a chef =)

  19. antintyty on May 26th, 2010

    FYI, this took WAY to long to cut this chicken up!! I can do this in the amount of time he used breaking the legs on the chicken!!

    @bankner you, sir, are an ass
    it’s a tutorial video, of course it’s slow, if u want speed go watch hung huynh, then say stuff about how fast you cut a chicken, gosh, trollers have no life

  21. tattva16 on May 26th, 2010

    Chef Jason, please don’t listed to those idiots, my gosh apparently some people do not connect their brains with their thongs

    I looove ur vids!!! :D

  22. bettythebutcher on May 26th, 2010

    uh, why are you referring to the chicken as “he” and “guy”? last time i checked, they weren’t selling roosters at the grocery store…

  23. ChefTips on May 26th, 2010

    @bettythebutcher
    Of course it’s a hen/female.
    We just always referred to them as he or guys in the kitchens…

  24. ChefTips on May 26th, 2010

    @antintyty
    Great! You should make a video and show us.
    I am not trying to show off how fast I can cut up a chicken. It’s more of a tutorial. When you separate the joints you are less likely to chip off some bone which could end up on the plate.

  25. CaliforniaTravelTips on May 26th, 2010

    @antintyty What a lame comment. Like this is a speed contest. The point is to show people a step-by-step method.
